Budget Information


The Board of Education and District Administration encourage residents to actively participate in the budget development process for the upcoming school year. Information may be found on the Business Office web page.

Voter Eligibility & Registration Information


In order to vote on the budget, residents must be registered.  Voter eligibility requires that you are:

  1. A Citizen of the United States
  2. Eighteen [18] years of age or older on the day of the election
  3. You have lived in the school district for at least 30 days prior to this election.
  4. A registered voter with the school district or with the Suffolk County Board of Elections

Qualified voters can also use the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Electronic Voter Registration Application to register to vote or to update the information they have on file with the New York State Board of Elections. Information regarding that can be located at https://dmv.ny.gov/more-info/electronic-voter-registration-application. The District does not have control over the Department of Motor Vehicles Registration Application process or its registration timelines.  Therefore, qualified voters who intend to register through the Department of Motor Vehicles should do so as soon as possible.

 

Absentee and Early Mail Ballots


Applications for Absentee and Early Mail Ballots are obtainable during school business hours from the District Clerk, or via the link below. Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk at 189 Dunton Avenue, E. Patchogue, NY 11772. Ballots will be issued upon the satisfactory completion of the application form. All Absentee and Early Mail Ballots must be received by the District Clerk not later than 5:00 p.m. on the day of the vote.

Military Ballots


Military Ballot Applications may be obtained from the Office of the District Clerk and submitted to the District Clerk, by mail at 189 Dunton Avenue, E. Patchogue, NY 11772, or in person. Military Ballots will be mailed out or otherwise distributed in accordance with the preferred method of transmission on the military ballot application and must be received by the District Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the election. 

 

Board Candidates


District residents interested in running for a Board of Education position should contact Christine Flynn, District Clerk, at (631) 730-1542 or cflynn@southcountry.org for information.

Packets and petitions nominating candidates for the office of Trustee of the Board of Education will be made available beginning on March 11, 2025, at noon at District Office.  Please call (631) 730-1542 to make an appointment to obtain petitions.

Completed nominating petitions must be filed with the District Clerk at her office in the Administration Building, 189 Dunton Avenue, East Patchogue, New York, not later than 5:00 pm prevailing time on Monday, April 21, 2025. Nominating petitions are to be submitted for three (3) vacancies on the Board of Education each commencing July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2028. Petitions are to be signed by at least 24 qualified voters of the district (representing 2% of the number of voters who voted in the previous annual election for members of the Board of Education); must state the name and residence of each signer, and must state the name and residence of the candidate.

 

Referenda or Propositions


Pursuant to a rule adopted by the Board of Education in accordance with §2035 of the Education Law, any referenda or propositions to amend the budget, or otherwise to be submitted for voting at said election, must be filed with the District Clerk at her office in the Administration Building, 189 Dunton Avenue, East Patchogue, New York, at least sixty (60) days before the date of the Annual Meeting and Election.
