Fifth grade students at Frank P. Long Intermediate School showed off their math skills during an annual Math 24 competition. As part of the event, the students used addition, subtraction, multiplication or division to develop solutions to problems that equal 24. Winning the heated competition was Dylan Stickley.

Showing off research skills

To culminate a unit of study on nonfiction texts, fourth grade students in Alexis Kane’s class at Frank P. Long Intermediate School presented research projects. As part of the unit, the students learned research skills, facts, how to synthesize information, organized note-taking and how to work as a team. They worked in groups to create their projects. During “intermission,” the students had a treat and filled out “compliment cards” to members of different groups to uplift them.
