Frank P. Long fifth grader Reagan Kellerman has earned a scholarship through the Long Island String Festival Association to attend the South Country Education Foundation’s Summer Camp summer music camp. The talented violinist was granted the award for her participation in LISFA and a scholarship application process. She has taken part in the South Country Education Foundation’s Summer Camp for the past two years.

For its dedication to music, the South Country School District has been distinguished with a 2025 Best Communities for Music Education designation from the nonprofit NAMM Foundation. The district is one of 935 school districts from across the nation to earn the award.

To receive the recognition for the 12th year in a row, South Country demonstrated outstanding achievement in its efforts to provide music access and education to all students. The district was required to answer detailed questions about its program, including funding, music class participation, instruction time and support.

The South Country Music Department recently hosted the annual NYSSMA Solo & Ensemble Festival at Bellport High School. Nearly 300 South Country student-musicians participated in the event. The students’ adjudication scores will be used to provide individual feedback, as well as to help determine all-county selections for events such as SCMEA and LISFA next school year.
